RIVEX®/Optia®/ICE-μ
A high-quality and high-performance window film series based on RIKEN TECHNOS' original technologies
RIVEX® is a series of window films that simply adhere to glasses to provide various functions, such as shatter prevention, security, heat shielding, hydrophilic and decorative applications.
Shatterproof film prevents
fragments of glasses broken by earthquakes, typhoons, and tornadoes from scattering. Security film provides glasses with an anti-penetration function and is registered for building components with high crime prevention functionality
(CP Mark compliance). Heat shielding film reduces the ingress of heat rays (infrared rays) into rooms, drastically increasing energy efficiency. Hydrophilic film is an extremely hydrophilic organic hard coating that reduces the adherence
of stains, such as water and features a self-cleaning function. Decorative film is window film that features a variety of designs.
Almost all the films block 99 percent of UV rays, which adversely affect the skin
and cause discoloration of interiors and products, and also have a shatterproof function.
RIVEX® is a next-generation functional window film based on RIKEN TECHNOS' original technologies. You can choose RIVEX®
products that are suitable for various applications and needs.
ICE-μ is a high performance automotive film achieved by our ‘Wavelength Control Technology’. It effectively blocks heat and UV rays with high transparency but not interferes with electronic signals. ICE-μ confidently gives you a more comfortable drive.

FAQ
Click a question, and the answer will be displayed.
-
Q1. What advantages are there in adhering glass film to windowpanes?
A1:- Glass film is useful as a safety means to prevent fragments of glass sheets broken by earthquakes, typhoons, explosions, and collision accidents from falling or scattering.
- Sunlight control film reduces heat near the windows and improves air conditioning efficiency, thereby enhancing power savings.
- The film keeps passers-by from seeing into rooms during the day. (Transparent film does not, however.) As you can see outside through the film from inside the room, the film does not make the room feel enclosed, unlike curtains or Venetian blinds.
- Provides an accent to the exteriors of buildings with abundant color tones and reflection rates.
- You can replace the film when renovating.
-
Q2: I heard that adhering film to a glass sheet causes the sheet to be broken.
Is this true?A2:If dark-colored film is applied to highly heat absorbent glass, such as colored glass that can be easily affected by sunlight, or wired glass, the rate of heat cracking of the glass increases.
If film is adhered to 5 mm-thick transparent glass sheets, which are commonly used in ordinary houses, heat cracking hardly occurs. We determine the possibility of heat cracking on individual glass sheets on individual sites. Contact us before film application. -
Q3: How long is the service life of glass film?
A3:If film is applied to a vertically set transparent glass sheet, the reference of service life is as follows:
Ten years for film adhered to the inner surface.
Seven years for film adhered to the outer surface.
If film is adhered to top lights or colored glass sheets, the service life is likely to be slightly shorter. The service life varies according to environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.
The guarantee period is as follows:
Five years for film adhered to the inner surface.
Three years for film adhered to the outer surface. -
Q4: How should I apply the film?
A4:We will introduce to you the nearest application and distribution dealer. Please contact us.
-
Q5: Can non-professionals adhere film to glass sheets?
A5:If windowpanes are an ordinary type and relatively small, people with no experience can adhere the film. For large glass sheets, the removal of bubbles is difficult and wrinkles may easily result.
If you want a beautiful and secure application of film, use one of our application and distribution dealers. -
Q6: How do I clean glass film adhered to glass sheets?
A6:Wash the film using a sponge or a cleaning tool with a soft surface. Avoid scrubbing hard and wash the film with water in one direction. Do not wipe with a dry material. (Do not use brushes, abrasives, or sponges with abrasives.) If the film is extremely contaminated, use neutral detergent.
-
Q7: What do I need to be careful of after the film is adhered to the glass sheet?
A7:After application any film may be milky white, but it will be transparent and recover the original color in two or three weeks. Do not scrub the film surface with a knife or abrasives.
Avoid adhering posters with adhesive tape.
If you need to remove the film, contact us or one of our application and distribution dealers. -
Q8: Which glass films block UV rays?
A8:All of our glass films block 99 percent or more of UV rays.
It is commonly said that discoloration or changes or fading of colors of furniture can be avoided if the UV rays of sunlight are blocked. However, temperature, humidity and fluorescent light are also causes of color fading. Therefore, please acknowledge that if glass film is applied, color fading may not be prevented in certain environments. -
Q9: Is it possible to adhere glass film to polycarbonate or acrylic sheets?
A9:It is not recommended to adhere glass film to polycarbonate or acrylic sheets. A slight amount of unreacted substances or water remaining in base materials such as polycarbonate and acrylic resin results in outgassing over time.
If glass film is adhered to such materials, the outgassing causes bubbles between the base material and the film, causing the film to bulge or peel off. (Polycarbonate normally causes more bubbles than acrylic resin.) The variation in the dimensions of such base materials is much greater than that of glass film if they are warmed due to increased ambient temperature or by sunlight, and the glass film may peel off over time.
From the aforementioned reasons, it is not recommended to adhere glass film to polycarbonate or acrylic sheets. -
Security film (RIVEX® security type film)
Q10: I would like to adhere SS1490C (security film) to windowpanes to protect against thieves. Do you have any suggestions?
A10:SS1490C has a laminated structure with excellent anti-penetration characteristics. Although our security film is more difficult to penetrate than our shatterproof film, it cannot completely prevent thieves from breaking and entering through windows. Because the application of SS1490C is more difficult than that of ordinary glass film, it is recommended that you use one of our application and distribution dealers. (This does not mean that non-professionals cannot apply film to glass sheets.)

IR cut film
Q11: What are the advantages of IR cut film?
A11:Improving energy-efficiency, especially reducing the heat near the windows.
Our film, which uses ceramic particles, will exert the effect almost permanently. The effect of the film is not based on light reflection unlike metal deposition film. Our film, which has a low reflection rate, does not have a mirror-like appearance, and does not impair the beautiful views of buildings.
